Here are some of the questions we are most frequently asked about Registered Childminding – The Secrets of Success:

What’s new in the second edition?

We’ve given the whole book an update and packed in loads of new information – there are 60 extra pages! A lot has changed since we wrote Registered Childminding in 2002. We’ve updated sections to reflect the changes in registration/inspections, care practices and the new emphasis on written policies and procedures.

Is it an e-book?

No, this is professionally printed paperback manual. When you order, you’ll receive a real-life book through the post.

Does the new book cover the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)?

Yes, the book contains an introduction to the EYFS and lots of information to help you implement it. For example working in partnership with parents; record keeping; writing policies and procedures; health, hygiene and safety; child development; risk assessment; the environment and observation, assessment and recording methods.

What areas does the book apply to?

We’ve covered the registration and legislation applicable to childminders in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. The sections on caring for children are applicable everywhere.

Will this book assist me with qualifications?

Yes, there is information useful for qualifications like the Diploma in Home-based Childcare and the NVQ 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development. I [Tunja] even referenced it a few times when completing my degree. We have also included tips on completing course work.

I’m an experienced childminder; is there anything in the book for me?

Even as experienced childminders we’re still learning so hopefully there will be something new in this book for you too. As an experienced childminder you might be interested in the sections on curriculum planning, observation and assessment, networks and studying for qualifications.
