Registered Childminding - The Secrets of Success

Reviews:

"This book is truly inspirational, As a childminder for the past 13 years I found this book to be a valuable source of up to date information and advice... It's like my bible. You won't be dissapointed."
- Anne Dolphin, Registered Childminder

"This book gives an excellent range of advice and references... Written in a way that makes it ideal to just dip into when you have a problem or question that needs to be quickly answered but at the same time equally good for a sit down with coffee when you get one of those rare moments for relaxation."

Registered Childminding - The Authors

Registered Childminding - The Secrets of Success is written by Tunja and Tamsin Stone, a mother and daughter team with 25 years childminding experience between them.

Tunja

Why write a book?

Tunja: I've enjoyed several voluntary roles supporting other childminders as part of childminding associations and more recently as a Childminding Support Worker. I found that a lot of childminders came to me asking for advice on issues that I'd had to deal with during my own childminding career. The book was an opportunity to turn that experience into a useful resource to share with other childminders.

What childcare experience do you have?

Tamsin

Tamsin: Tunja started childminding in 1992 and I joined her as an assistant in 1997. The children we care for range from 0-16 years, many have special needs, and we often take referrals from Social Services.

We also ran a summer holiday club for four years, employing extra childminding assistants and taking 20-30 children for the summer - not all at once! It certainly tested our organisational skills.

Our setting is approved to provide Foundation Stage Education and Tunja is currently attending Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) training and assessment in London.

Have you studied for any qualifications?

Tunja: When I first started childminding there weren't any courses aimed directly at childminders so I started with an NVQ3 in Childcare and Education. Between writing the first edition of the book and the release of the second, I went on to complete my ADCE in Childcare & Education and finally I have just completed a BA Hons in Early Years Care and Education (first class!).
